Taken from the station footbridge Ryde St John's Road signal box is seen looking to be in very good condition. It was built in 1928 by the Southern Railway and was once one of a number of boxes on the Isle of Wight. It now controls all the signalling on the remaining 'mainline' route from Ryde to Shanklin. Older photographs taken from this angle reveal that the land behind the box, now occupied by a scaffolding company, was once a Southern Vectis bus station.
