Taken from a foot crossing to the south of Brading station the buildings, former trackbed and preserved signal box can be seen. The station is in a delightfully rural location and once acted as the junction for the short branch that led down to Bembridge for which there was a bay platform between the signal box and the station. It was announced in the summer of 2019 that the passing loop is to be reinstated at Bembridge to increase capacity during peak times. Indeed, whilst we were on the station there was a gaggle of staff from Network Rail and South West Trains surveying various things, walking around with clipboards and taking photographs.
