Furness Vale signal box (LNWR, 1897) The classic looking 1897 LNWR type 4 Furness Vale signal box sits in the early evening sun adjacent to the level crossing and station, both to my right. Whilst the box has had the uPVC treatment, it retains its character complete with a pair of fine finials and the BR (LMR) flanged enamel nameplate. Unfortunately, it has lost its chimney and I can find no photographs of the box with it still extant. Keywords: Furness Vale signal box
