With the skyline of Manchester resembling Singapore or Hong Kong Manchester Piccadilly's platform fourteen is somewhat dwarfed, despite itself being in an elevated position! This is my first picture of a CAF Civity train, in this case, 195120 working the 12.41 Manchester Airport to Barrow-in-Furness. Platforms thirteen and fourteen are the only through platforms at Piccadilly. They are chronically congested and, as there is no possibility of expansion, Network Rail has a problem on its hands; quite how they will solve this is not clear. Interestingly, it is these two platforms that prevented Piccadilly from winning the Major station award at the recent National Rail Awards with local arch-rival Lime Street pipping it to the post!
