Still wearing its First Great Western livery and branding from its time in the Thames valley, 166209 passes along the up fast at Bishton about to cross the infrequently used level crossing in front of the signal box. It is working the 12.30 Cardiff Central to Portsmouth Harbour. A service that back in my time living in the West Country, would have been composed of a set of Mk. I stock with a diesel upfront such as a Hymek, class 31 or a class 33. The electrification masts and wiring are fully installed here between Severn Tunnel Junction and Newport. The line of houses in the background are part of the linear village of Bishton.
