Skoda has largely shaken off its awful and somewhat comedic

reputation with regards to car manufacturing in recent years following its buy out by VW. The company, named Skoda Transportation, remains a Czech engineering company that continues the legacy of Skoda Works' rolling stock manufacturing that started at the end of the nineteenth century in Pilsen. It has a fine heritage of locomotive and stock manufacturing including the CHS7 locomotives that are amongst the most powerful locomotives built in Europe. The car manufacturing arm is now totally separate from Skoda's other interests.
