Looking north from South Newsham Road level crossing reveals a double track with semaphores. Both the up and down tracks have been in use relatively recently and the track beds remain fairly weed-free, indeed better than many areas of much busier track that I have visited. At the moment, the lines are freight only. The most recent passenger train traversed the line earlier this year carrying various invited guests, including the then Tory transport minister Chris Grayling.
