signal box is the old station that was closed on 02.11.64. It was unusual in that it only had one platform that served trains in both directions thus meaning some complicated cross-over moves by down trains. There are active and continuing discussions about the re-opening of this station and a number of others in this relatively poorly rail connected part of the the north east.
