locations such as railway crossing points in the area around Ashington and Blyth. The message is clear, after a long period of inactivity, the railway is in use again. However, rather than trains going to the Alcan aluminum smelter, that has now closed, they are taking biomass to the adjacent power station. However, there are also serious discussions taking place about re-introducing passenger services to the network of lines in this area so train numbers would increase again.
