A local artist has produced a number of small pieces

of work that are on display at Prestonpans station, this is one of the cleverest examples in the old booking office. Prestonpans is remembered for the derailment of the down sleeper in May 1980. The derailment was caused by a vandal placing a piece of waste track across the lines. Luckily, nobody was killed even though twenty-seven people were injured in the nine coaches that were derailed. The ECML was closed for four days.
