180111 gets into its stride as it heads north through Hadley Wood station forming the 13.48 King's Cross to Hull service. The train has just emerged from Hadley Wood south tunnel that was opened in the 1890s some thirty years after the left-hand tunnel (out of sight behind the train) was completed. This was when the track was quadrupled as the original double track layout was prooving inadequate. It is said that Hadley Wood has such a large station, totally out of proportion to the area it serves, as one local resident was no less than Sir Nigel Gresley!
