D1924, return leg of The Crewe Open Day & The Medieval Chester, 15.35 Crewe-London Euston (1Z42), Hyde Road bridge
After the drama of the morning run with D1944 'Craftsman' failing within ten minutes of leaving Euston over, D1924 'Crewe Diesel Depot' brings the return working through Roade cutting. Disgraced D1944 is dead-in-tow on the rear of the train that is returning from Chester and Crewe following the open day at Locomotive Services Ltd. base at Crewe diesel depot. As can be seen, after a foul day, some late evening sun has just broken through the cloud to illuminate the very top of the cutting.
