90039 comes to a halt at Newark Northgate station leading the 14.06 terminating service from London King's Cross. LNER has been hiring in a couple of class 90s for some time to cover for a shortage of class 91s. Notice that the signs and lower part of the lamp posts, as is much infrastructure on the ECML stations, is still painted in the much lamented GNER blue colour scheme. GNER ceased operations October 2007 with the un-loved and ultimately flawed National Express East Coast taking over operations for just two years. Also, notice that the signs refer to Newark Northgate station as all one word, the national timetable refers to it as North Gate, can anybody local to the town advise as to which is correct?
