A scene that was typical of much of the southern ECML at Essendine between Peterborough and Grantham. Looking north up Stoke Bank HST power car 43311 leads the 07.34 Harrogate to London King's Cross. When I first visited this spot in August 1979, I was photographing Deltics from this bridge probably cursing the HSTs, see.....https://www.ontheupfast.com/p/21936chg/29682537404/x2-40-101-up-parcels-working-essendine. Forty years later, this day is the final one before the introduction of the Azumas that will precipitate the withdrawal of the HSTs on this route.
