It has operated all of its life on the west of England lines, initially as part of 253002. In the final two weeks of service on mainline express operations it is seen at the the rear of the 14.03 service to Penzance. However, it has been selected to become a power car of a 'Castle' set operating in Devon and Cornwall so its future is assured for a while longer yet.
