Middlesbrough signal box (NE, 1877) Just at the end of Middlesbrough station is the signal box. It's a North Eastern C1 box that opened in 1877. It contains an IFS (individual function switch) panel. Once again, it's a shame that the surroundings of the box have been spoilt by the installation of the palisade fencing.
