The engineering and construction team are clearing the site around

work undertaken to replace the over bridge just west of Castleton station. Looking at the work remaining I suspect that, subject to inspection and certification, the road would re-open within a day or two of this picture was taken. The whole bridge has been replaced following very serious damage inflicted a year earlier by a skip lorry striking the bridge. The force of the strike was so severe that images on the Network Rail website show the track misaligned. A huge amount of work also appeared to have been done securing the piers of the bridge with cabling drilled into the ground. I hope that the skip lorry had good insurance!
