Ballymoss' final working was on 12.10.81 when it experienced an engine failure (low air pressure) at Doncaster hauling the 1D08 19:40 King's Cross to Hull. One of its engines was donated to 55007 'Pinza' to keep that locomotive going almost to the end until, ironically, that also experienced engine failure Doncaster on 30.12.81; I wonder if it was the same engine that failed?
