In the dull half-light at Oxford station, 31256 and 31208 arrive with the The Crewe Campaigner Relief railtour. We took this train from here all the Way to Crewe via Birmingham New Street and Shrewsbury. In the background a class 117 DMU, set L402, waits with an up service, probably to Paddington. Interestingly, the previous summer that actual DMU also wore the modest RPPR headboard as carried by 31256 when it worked The Merry-Go-Round railtour that took in all sorts of rare track in the Thames Valley.
