Former SM&J bridge, Ashton Road, Roade
Despite there being no railway to cross since the late 1960s, the double arch bridge that carries the ashton to Roade road is still firmly intact. Indeed, Network Rail still have an obligation to maintain it and visit it regularly to monitor its condition as witnessed by the white patch on which they write details of their visits. This is the bridge that I see everyday from the front of my house when getting up and opening the curtains, doing the washing up or the gardening!
