Birmingham International joins the Welsh Marches Line just, south of Shrewsbury at Sutton Bridge Junction, from the Welshpool line. This junction remains a bastion of mechanical signalling with many semaphores and a smashing box just behind where I'm taking the picture from. In the foreground is a pair of shunting disk signals with white diamonds that have recently been added. This indicates that the lines that they protect have track circuits.
