Pantyffynnon signal box (GWR, 1892) & up starter signal Pantyffynnon signal box is seen a short distance from the station of the same name. The box is a GWR Type 5 that opened in 1892. It controls a number of semaphores on the Central Wales (now referred to as the Heart of Wales) line. It also controls access to the freight only Gwaun-Cae-Gurwen line for removal of coal from the open cast mine. Unfortunately, this is as close as I could get to the box.
