Work being undertaken to restore Peak D8 'Penyghent' to its former glory by the team from the North Notts. Loco. Group. Introduced in 1960, this was one of the pioneer Class 44 Peaks that were the first sub-set of the class to be withdrawn. Of the ten that were built, only this one and D4 (44004) 'Great Gable' have been preserved.
