43144 waits to leave Paddington station with the 10.01 to Pembroke Dock. This 260 mile journey is one of contrast. After travelling along Brunel's famous billiard table line at full service speed, the train plunges under the River Severn. It continues fast through South Wales then making much more sedate progress though to West Wales passing through absolute block signalling and travelling on jointed track. I could not think of a better way to do this than in an the comfort and space of a Mk. III HST coach. I hope the the new trains being introduced in the next few years are a worthy replacement.
