Low Gates signal box (BR, 1956) Low gates signal box was opened by British railways in 1956. It replaced the original box on the opposite side of the line. It took on added importance in 1960 when it took over control of Northallerton East Junction. Whilst the level crossing in the foreground looks quiet it was in-fact a very busy road and getting a vehicle-free picture was a challenge! Keywords: Low gates signal box
