Running as 1Z50, the outward leg of The Purbeck and Bono railtour left Derby at the unearthly time of 04.48! It's now 07.30 and the train has just left Banbury. It is about to pass under the M40 motorway, the embankment of which I am utilising to get a high vantage point. The 'tour is being led by two beautifully restored Type 4s, 50007 'Hercules' and 50050 'Fearless' that, unfortunately, had just been powered back as they approached me as the train was pathed behind a stopper that was only just in front of it at King's Sutton. So, whilst the picture is reasonable, the DAT recording was somewhat compromised being dominated by the traffic above me on the M40!
