In the half-light at Silkstone Common station the remains of

the old platform can be seen. This remnant of the old station, simply named Silkstone, was opened by the Manchester, Sheffield and Lincolnshire Railway in 1855. It closed in 1959 to be re-opened by BR in 1983 at its new location just east of this spot. The old station building is still extant as a private residence named, appropriately, 'Station House'
