76009, joining the Pennine Explorer, Cardiff Central-Rotherwood, Manchester Piccadilly station On the end of Manchester Piccadilly's platform one, 76009 comes slowly into the station to attach to the Pennine Exporerer railtour. With 76014 it would haul the railtour over the doomed Woodhead route all the way to Rotherwood Exchange sidings to the east of Sheffield. Notice the tolerance endowed upon us spotters by being permitted right down to track level on the platform ramps. Also notice in the background a class 86. My notes have this down as possibly being current day celebrity 86259. There must be hundreds of photographs and notes out there, can anybody possibly confirm this?
