I was keen to got some shots in this area as Westbury South signal box was due to close in a week’s time with the consequential removal of all the semaphores at this location. 50048 ‘Dauntless’ brings the 1A47 11.15 Paignton to Paddington around the steeply cambered and sharply curved section of track as it slows for its stop at Westbury station. This part of Westbury was rarely photographed due to it being fairly inaccessible except by two young spotters who got where they were not supposed to be!
