 Simon and I had a fair walk from our overnight accommodation at Hexham Youth Hostel that was actually situated in the village of Acomb! On arrival at the attractive Hexham station, we were rewarded with the sight of 40066 heading a freight along the Tyne Valley towards Carlisle. This was another beautiful day with clear blue skies and hot temperatures. 40066 was a Scottish Region class 40 for all of its life being withdrawn in April 1981 and cut up at Swindon six months later.
