One of Swindon's locomotives sits proudly on display inside the Swindon outlet village. Collett designed 7819 'Hinton Manor' was built at Swindon by the GWR in 1938. It was withdrawn in 1965 and ended up at Barry. It was rescued in 1973 and was taken to the Severn Valley Railway where it was restored. It saw extensive use on the mainline and preserved lines and was one of the engines used as part of the GWR 150 celebrations in 1985 when it was painted in British Railways black. A few weeks after this picture was taken, 7819 was moved back to the SVR.
