Southampton Central signal box (Closed) (SR, 1935) The utilitarian design of Southampton central signal box would win prizes when compared to the L&SW boxes it was replacing when built by the Southern in 1935. However, functionality was the order of the day and outweighed aesthetics! It has been closed since the area was resignalled in 1980 with control going to the Eastleigh PSB.
