90045 leads the 1M16 Caledonian Sleeper past Milton Crossing just a short distance north of Roade Cutting. This train is, in fact, three sleeper services that all come together at Edinburgh to work south to London. However, things can go wrong and this particular week there had been some severe delays caused by problems with this arrangement. Whilst a class 90 is not unusual traction for the sleeper, there is a dedicated pool of class 92s for this purpose but there have been a number of issues with their reliability causing the simpler and more robust 90s to step in.
