68017 & 68005, NT 06.16 Carlisle-Barrow-in-Furness (2C40, 2E), Carl Cross SD220813 In beautiful morning light one of Northern's DRS operated 'super trains', the loco. hauled 06.16 Carlisle to Barrow-in-Furness, passes Carl Cross just south of Kirby-in-Furness. The working was being led by 68017 'Hornet' with 68005 'Defiant' on the rear. This photograph has so many elements from the hills of the southern Lakes, Duddon Sands to the telegraph wires still in situ.
