45690, taking water, Crewe station The rear end of an interesting locomotive move seen on platform 12 at Crewe station. 45690 'Galetea' is seen at the back of a formation containing 37706, 44781 and two support coaches. 44781 and the 37 were to continue on to Bristol with 45690 being detached here at Crewe after both steam locomotives took water at the platform. Unfortunately, due to the intense dry summer of 2018, steam was banned on the network from running on its own so all needed a diesel pilot hence the class 37 leading the working that ran as 5Z50.
