 Amsterdam Central is a very impressive structure built in the Gothic Renaissance Revival style and opened in 1889. Like much of The Netherlands, it is built on reclaimed land that caused huge problems during construction. The architect was Pierre Cuypers who was also responsible for other buildings such as the Rijksmuseum with which is shares many similarities. Despite it being in the capital city, it is the second busiest Dutch station beaten to place by Utrecht Central.
