The fortunes of Kingham station, opened in 1885, have waxed and waned over the years. It was once a very busy crossing point for a number of lines and boasted two signal boxes. As the inevitable closures took hold, rationalisation took place and, at one time, complete closure was a possibility. However, the line was spared and investment took place and Kingham's fortunes rose again. Passenger numbers are in the ascendancy, testament to this was the huge enlargement of the car parking facilities in 2015 to accommodate the commuter cars whose drivers want to use the station. Facilities remain a little basic but that can alway be improved on! Here, Andy watches 43004 at the back of the 14.25 Great malvern to London Paddington leave the station.
