The afternoon of our day out turned out to be

a loverly winter one with clear and crisp light. On our journey home we called in at Kemble station. The station, built in 1845, has had a varied history. In the 1960s and 1970s things looked grim when it lost its branches to Cirencester and Tetbury following by BR singling the line from here to Swindon. However, its on the up now as the line has been re-doubled and passenger numbers are healthy for such a rural location. Judging by the huge and overflowing car park most travellers appeared to be commuters.
