A brief walk got me to it and little research found that it was at the junction of the former line that linked St. Helens to St. Helens Junction on the Chat Moss line. This now overgrown section of track was last used in the mid 2000s in connection with the bitumen factory at Baxters Lane in Sutton. I wonder if the signal could be pulled off still?
