Living on borrowed time, 142027 and 142012 sit side by

side in Preston's bay platforms waiting to perform their next duty. Much maligned and disliked by many, they have forged their own place in the history of railways in the UK. None have been preserved yet, but I expect a number will end up on on the many heritage lines around the country.
