 The electrical wheel boom level crossing gates crossing are in action at Cutsyke closing off the A639 to road traffic. Already there is a fair queue building up on the A639, a busy road to the south of Castleford. Notice that the signal box sign says Cutsyke Junction. There has been no junction here since February 1981 when the Castleford western chord was closed to all traffic, it had been freight-only since 1968. There was also a second station in Castleford situated on this chord called Castleford Cutsyke located on Akerton Road.
