All is not what it seems at Roade Hill on the WCML between Northampton and Milton Keynes. It appears that the infinitely faster Pendolino is about to overhaul the London Northwestern class 350. But, the opposite is true. 390127 'Virgin Buccaneer' is actually stationary at the red signal on the monstrosity of gantry in front whilst 350106 continues its journey as ECS to Milton Keynes with impunity. There was a severe restriction on the up fast at Milton Keynes that meant all up trains were stacked up behind each other for some distance. It took a good half an hour or so for it to sort itself out with most Virgin services arriving into Euston some twenty minutes to half an hour late.
