This was a bit of a rarity. 50010 arrived from

the Bristol direction with a short freight. 50s were designed for fast passenger duties even though they did have all sorts of technology such as slow speed running for freight working, it was rarely used. At this time, 50010 was just coming up to being ten years old. Having been allocated to the London Midland it had moved to the Western in January 1976 where it was allocated to Laira. It stayed a Laira locomotive all of the remainder of its life until it was withdrawn in 1988.
