My first ever photograph of an HST and it's in black and white! Inspired by a teacher at school who did some amateur photography I thought that I would try out some monochrome photograph buying a roll of Ilford FP4. Mr. Womack (Metalwork teacher) processed the film and produced some prints for me including this one. It shows HST set 253015 standing at Bath Spa with a down working. This power car is one of W43028 or W43029, if it is the latter it was the rear power car of the 17.35 Paddington to Plymouth service on 06.11.99 involved in the Upton Nervet derailment. The leading power car on that fateful autumn evening was 43019 that was written off but 43029 survived and remained in service on the Western Region until the end of HST operations in May 2019.
